How is it done?

Bruce has had years of experience in producing all shapes and sizes of “line entry” adverts for tourist boards. Much of the source material comes directly from written forms and emails or altering the previous edition whereas in other cases it comes by way of Databases (Access being the most common but by no means the only format) and even spreadsheets. With a bit of sorting, replacing and general hocus-pocus the required design format is achieved complete with pics, logos and fillers!

This kind of work requires, most of all, patience and a bit of peace and quiet. It can even be infuriating with client’s alts coming in at every angle - but someone has to do it! Heavy usage of InDesign and Pagemaker is also required and plenty of PDFs not only for final output but also for proofing.

The skills were learned the hard way – producing, in the early days of database publishing, brochures for the local tourist board but as both hardware and software improve so does deliverability.
